The surgical
procedures that we perform are: laparoscopies, surgery of the gastrointestinal
tract (including cancer of liver, pancreas, stomach, small bowel,
colon, gallbladder), repair of hernias, cancer surgery of breast,
endocrine surgery (which includes thyroid, parathyroid, pancreas
and adrenal glands), pediatric surgery in children three years and
older and excision of benign and malignant skin lesions.
Elimination
of Varicose and Spider Veins
We use a non-invasive
medical system that uses light to treat vascular conditions such
as leg veins. Base on the innovative laser system, the light
safely eliminates unsightly blood vessels without injections or
surgery. Our doctors can customize treatments specifically
for your skin type and the size and depth of your leg veins.
This flexible treatment cannot be achieved with any other non-invasive
method.
What
are spider veins and varicose veins?
Spider veins
are distended small superficial vessels, which often appear in the
shape of spider webs. They are most common on the legs, but
may also appear on the face. Varicose veins are enlarged vessels
which have widened as a result of weadness in the vein wall which
stretches and bulges. The exact causes of these problems is
not known, however, heredity and life style are factors.
People who spend much time on their feet exert pressure on the legs,
which may increase the incidence of unsightly leg veins.
In January
1999 we acquired the LASER Vasculight System, FDA approved in 1998,
for therapy of varicose veins, spider veins, hemangiomas, facial
vascular lesions and removal of unwanted facial hair or in other
parts of the body as well. This was the first one in Puerto Rico.
In July 2001
we started to remove surgically larger veins with TRIVEX System
and Saphenectomy when necesary.
